Yesler has a rich history of bringing people together. Today, we continue that tradition with a community that invites and delights with inclusion and innovation.
Nearly 80 years ago, Yesler became the nation’s first racially integrated, publicly subsidized housing development. In 2006, it became clear that more than 500 aging homes needed to be replaced. That’s when the Seattle Housing Authority began conversing with residents, neighbors, city officials, and partners about transforming the neighborhood.

In the following years, a revitalization began, providing new housing and economic opportunities for people of all income levels and cultural identities. Now, we continue to build a neighborhood where everyone benefits. The future’s bright in Yesler. Come along!
